The organic dance/butoh dance class is a combination of the Japanese butoh dance with different types of physical practice to approach a new level of body perception and body expression.
The class will introduce you to the basics of the world-wide acclaimed butoh dance with a special approach to organic movement and inspiration from the nature. The method includes dance, physical, breath, energy and relaxation techniques in purpose to improve the body perception and to develop the awareness of our movement. Moreover, proposing a free way of moving, it helps to release the mind and the body from the instant tension present in the daily life.
Butoh is an avant-garde dance and philosophical movement. Founded in Japan in the 1960’s by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, throughout the next 50 years has spread all over the world. Butoh seeks for the moment in the dancer when the body and the mind become one and the motion, whether choreographed or not, has its origin from the inside of the body. It is independent from any classical technique and takes inspiration from subconsciousness and the memory of the body along with Zen and the ancient Japanese philosophy. Butoh dance gives a great opportunity to discover our body and its unique richness.
